Chapter 5

Storyboard Text

  • I had worked hard for nearly two years, for the sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body (43)
  • Frankenstein awakens in the evening after a lot of work has been put in to his creation.
  • "My Dear Frankenstein... how glad I am to see you! How fortunate you should be here at the very moment of my alighting!" (45-46)
  • "Very well , and very happy, only a little uneasy that they hear from you so seldom" (46).
  • "It gives me the greatest delight to see you; but tell me how you left my father, brothers, and Elizabeth" (46).
  • He goes to sleep and dreams of Elizabeth and holding his dead mother in his arms. He awakes to Frankenstein standing in his room.
  • "My dear Victor... what for God's sake is the matter..." (47)
  • He hurries away and runs through the town, and past the church.
  • "how kind, how very good you are to me. This whole winter" (48)
  • He finds his brother who he hasn't seen in some time and they catch up and talk about his projects and the family.
  • He comes home and Frankenstein is gone so he dances around the room with joy.
  • "Do not ask me" (47).
  • He spent the rest of the winter sick, and in bed being taken care of by his brother who gives him a letter and tells him to write.
  • "Compose yourself... your father and cousin would be very happy if they received a letter from you" (49)
  • From your cousin
