  • He signed the document stating that he was indeed a witch, but then decided to rip it so that it wouldn't be hung on the church door.

  • Mary Warren tells the judge that John Proctor is innocent.  However, when Mary says that God is dead, he runs.
  • CATHARSIS
  • John ripped the paper, not allowing them to display it on the church door.
  • John Proctor's tragic flaw was when he committed adultery with Abigail Williams.
  • In the end, John Proctor is hung because he ripped the document.
