Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • "Nah, I'm good."
  • "Let me out of here. I'm in prison!"
  • Rising Action
  • "We will all try to help you."
  • Conflict
  • In the beginning of the novel, Duke Theseus ruler of Athens, is sent out to conquer Thebes. Once he successfully conquers Thebes, he is in charge of those who are imprisoned. Arctite and Palamon are both imprisoned. Arctite is released and banished for life.
  • Climax
  • "Yay! I won this fight."
  • While Palamon is still in prison, Arcite goes back to work for Emily under a false name of Philostrate. Palamon, Arcite, and Emily all fit the love triangle. Both men are trying to win her love. Arctite prays to Mars, god of war. Emily prays to Diana, god of maternity. Palamon prays to Venus, god of love.
  • Falling Action
  • The main issue is that both Palamon and Arcite are intent on winning Emily's love. Theseus then puts both of them against each other with their armies to fight for Emily's love.
  • Resolution
  • "I love you. I love you too." "Okay..." "Okay."
  • Arcite wins the battle!
  • Arcite falls off his horse and dies. Since Palamon chose love over war, technically Palamon really won this fight.
  • "Oh hey, I guess I'm the last one standing!"
  • In the end, Palamon and Emily finally are together. This only worked because Palamon truly loved Emily so he chose love over anything to be with her.
