  • Hi, I am Alexander Hamilton. I am a Federalist.
  • The way I was raised affected my beliefs. I think poorly of people who cannot fend for themselves.
  • The way I was raised affected my beliefs. I was raised on a plantation.
  • Hi, I am Thomas Jefferson. I am a Democratic-Republican.
  • Political parties arises because people had different values and beliefs. The people who had the same views grouped together and formed a political party.
  • National Debt is the way to go, we can pay off our debt as a whole nation!
  • State Debt is the best option!
  • Us southerners have paid our debt already.
  • Federalists are mostly educated and wealthy. They believe in a big national government, national banking, tariffs, and industries.

  • Democratic-Republicans are mostly small farmers and average people. They believe in state rights, small banks, no tariffs and agriculture for money.
  • We agree!
  • And the capital is in the South!
  • The different parties had different views, and this could lead to argument. For example, Hamilton wanted to establish a national debt to pay off the war debt, but some people did not agree.
  • So, they had a meeting over dinner with James Madison...
  • Finally, they came to the compromise.
