The Declaration of Independence
The Second Continental Congress meets in Philadelphia to decide how to react to the fighting at Lexington and Concord. The delegates decide not to break away from Britain. They created the Continental Army to defend the colonies.
The Declaration of Independence includes that all men posses unalienable rights. Also, Rulers should protect the rights of citizens. For example, looking out for their overall best interests. The authors were John Adams, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Robert Livingston, Roger Sherman.
Colonists and the British go to battle at Breed's Hill. The colonists make forts there. The minutemen held Boston under siege. Also, the colonists were well protected but eventually they ran out of gunpowder. There were 400 colonists dead and 1,000 British soldiers dead.
