For traveling the Greeks mostly used water to travel. They traveled in boats and also used the water to trade. They did travel on land as well however it was difficult due to mountains.
The Greeks relied on farming to provide food to survive. Farming in Greece, however, was extremely hard due to the mountains. Some farmers built things to make the land more flat for farming. When there was not a lot of good farmland left it let to wars between different settlements.
Colonies were formed when the population increased and farmland did not provide enough food for everyone. Greek colonists had to travel around to find a good place for their colony. These colonies took around 300 years to form and also helped in spreading Greek culture.
The Greeks traded using merchant ships. They were able to get to many different places using ships from their location. They traded with countries such as Spain, Egypt, and other countries from Europe, and Asia.
