  • Men ! We have reached our destination. 
  • From Trade to Territory
  • 1650 , when the British arrived in India
  • By Aman
  • Yes, Captain. The Queen has granted us the sole right to trade.
  • We are buying goods like spices from India at a cheap price and selling them at a high rate in European markets.
  • In 1651 , Aurangzeb granted permission to the British to build a factory on the banks of river Hugli .
  • As a result of denial of rights to trade,  on 23rd June 1757 , the Battle of Plassey was fought.
  • Fire !
  • Attack!
  • The British outnumbered the forces of Siraj-ud-Daulah as Mir Jafar did not bring his forces because he was promised to be the Nawab of Bengal on the death of Siraj-ud-Daulah. 
  • But Mir Jafar was barely a puppet in the hands of the British. 
  • The Battle of Buxar took place in 1764 between Mir Kasim and the British. 
  • After the victory of the British in the Battle of Buxar , they started to introduce new policies like Subsidiary alliance and Doctrine of Lapse helped in annexation of smaller princely states. 
  • This is how the British got control over India.
