Hey, can I come video one of your classes? I'm learning about the Coaching Cycle.
Sure! You can come this week.
ELA 8th Grade Honors 3rd Period DGP and Passage by Amy Tan
Chapter 2 was a very informative chapter with many resources. I appreciated all of the resources to help with the process.
After Video Conference
I talked with the teacher about videoing her lesson. I provided her with the survey sheets for watching the video. We scheduled a day and period.
Book Talk Project
During the lesson, I set up my MacBook to video the lesson. I ended up videoing the entire 50 min. period so that she could skip ahead and watch part or all of the video.
Reflection and Assessment StoryboardThat
After she had time to review the video, she filled out the surveys and we discussed what she observed. She said that she knows that she does a lot of talking during the lesson and she needs to work on that. I assured her that the information she provided was valuable.
What did you observe whiling the video of your lesson?
I felt like to did a lot of the talking during the lesson. This is something I need to work on.
Students have been working on their Book Talk project. Students read a book and summarize it using a tech tool. Students choose to video themselves, screen record using a presentation, green screen, or other.
The teacher that I videoed did not care if I videoed her, but I could see where many teachers might only want the students videoed. I will use that as an option. I do believe talking with students is one of the best ways to gather information about the class and/or lesson, but videoing is a great reflection for the teacher.
