  • No, I have headaches and pressure in my head and it won't go away.
  • Lucy was just diagnosed with Stage 1 Astrocytomas. Here is what she should know.
  • Astorcytomas is a type of Glioma Tumor. It is cancer of the supportive tissues in the brain.
  • The other two types are Ependymoma and Oligodendrocytes.(Having a Mized Glioma is Possible)
  • Symptoms for Gliomas are headaches, seizures, and personality changes.
  • Neurogical Exam :vision, hearing, balance, coordination, strength and reflexes
  • Diagnosis Neurogical Exam Brain Scans Biopsy
  • Brain Scans Used MRI CT PET
  • Biopsy-collecting a small sample of the tissue to see if it is benign or malignant.
  • Surgery- awake, Open-Skull Surgery, Intraoperative MRI Surgery, and non-invasive Stereotactic Radiosurgery
  • Treatments 1. Surgery 2. Medication 3. Chemotherapy 4. Radiation Therapy
  • Medication- Anti-epileptic drugs, steriods, to stop tumor growth
  • I know this all sounds terrible, but because of your age and health you have a 60% or more chance of living for more than 5 years. That is a lot higher than a person your mom's age would have
