Storyboard Text

  • Brutus decides that he needs to take part in the conspiracy against Caesar because he thinks it is best for Rome. He loves Caesar, though, so he isn't happy about having to do this.
  • It must be by his death...
  • Meanwhile, across town, the other conspirators are headed to Brutus' house.  There is a terrible storm and other strange omens, such as lions in the street and men on fire.
  • Brutus graciously welcomes the other conspirators. Cassius gives each man's name, and Brutus shakes all of their hands. The other men immediately seem to recognize Brutus as their leader in the conspiracy.
  • "They are welcome here!"
  • "This is Casca,  Cinna, Decius Brutus, Metellus Cimber..."
  • Brutus and Cassius argue about whether they should swear an oath, involve Cicero, or kill Antony. The group always votes in favor of Brutus' opinion.
  • "And let us swear our resolution." "No, let's not swear an oath!"
  • A bit later, Portia overhears Brutus saying goodbye to the conspirators, and she is upset that he won't confide in her. She waits and plans to confront him about his recent behavior.
  • He owes me an explanation...
  • As the conspirators are making plans, Caesar's wife, Calpurnia is having a terrible dream: Caesar's statue is pouring blood, and the people of Rome are bathing in it and smiling. She wakes up frightened and determined to make Caesar stay home.
