Hi everyone! Today's group is focused on self-management of symptoms of depression.
In the last group, we made lists of all of the pros and cons of taking control over your depression and managing the symptoms more effectively.
Before the last group I was unsure if I actually wanted to reach out for help and try to change, but the benefits of changing my behavior definitely out-weight the cons. I'm tired of feeling down and hopeless.
Today we are going to create a plan of action for self-managing your depression.
Self-management is when you can take control over your depression through skill development and behavior changes. Once you make the choice to change, self management allows you to feel confident in strategies that you can use to maintain good everyday mental health.
What do you mean by "self-management" of depression?
I want to feel better. I'm ready to change my behavior.
Okay great! Today's activity is going to be about coming up with different healthy habits and realistic ways that you can incorporate them into your daily life.
