Storyboard Text

  • What are we doing today?
  • We are going to decide whether to make the NRA or not
  • I heard that FDR is loosing political support because of the NRA.
  • Yes he is, I am voting republican next time.
  • what a great morning to pass an ACT.
  • The National Recovery Administration was a prime New Deal agency established by U.S. president Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933. The goal was to eliminate "cut-throat competition" by bringing industry, labor, and government together to create codes of "fair practices" and set prices. The NRA was established in 1933.
  • Key Roosevelt advisers believed that unrestrained competition had helped cause the Great Depression and that government had a critical role to play through national planning, limited regulation, the fostering of trade associations, support for "fair" trade practices, and support for "democratization of the workplace" (a standard work week, shorter working hours, and better working conditions).
  • A large number of acts were generated under the authority of the NRA. . Among the suggested causes are that the Act promoted economically harmful monopolies, that the Act lacked critical support from the business community, and that it was poorly administered.
  • The NRA fits in to the Recovery part because it has recovery in the name, The National Recovery Act.
  • The NRA was both successful and a failure. it succeeded because it came up with acts that benefited the country. It was also a failure because it made FDR less popular with the public.
  • The NRA did not continue.
