Hello Mrs. Catch! I am so excited to be Co-teaching with you this year! I am a little nervous since I have never taught an entire school year with another teacher!
Hello Miss. Williams! I am so excited also! I have only co- taught one other year but as long as we are well prepared I'm sure this year will run smooth!
There is so much to do! Where do we even start? I am so used to doing everything myself so I maybe a little difficult at times!
I am sure you will not be so bad! It is understanable to be stuck in your ways but as long as we are properly communicating and collaborating then I think we will be just fine! The first step is to decide our teaching style!
What do you mean teaching styles? Theres more than one?
Yes! There are six actually! Teaching styles are the different ways we can work collaboratively to deliver instruction to best utilize our different areas of expertise.
Ohh I know one! Isn't one of them parallel teaching where we separate the class in two and deliver the same lesson separate?
The first one would be the least collaborative; one of us teaching the prepared lesson and one of us observing and taking notes and data on students.
That one seems to be the most useful so far! I am a little concerned by the obvious one of us teaching together because it could get confusing during the lesson.
Another one would be one of us teaching the lesson as planned while the other is walking around assisting students that are struggling.
Yes, it can be difficult but thats why it is always good to practice before hand or have a script of how the lesson should play out!
