  • Step 1) Interphase
  •
  • During Prophase, the chromatins in the nucleus condense to form chromosomes. The spindle fibers form bridge between the poles.
  • Step 2) Prophase
  • During Metaphase, the chromatids attach to the spindle fibers. Then the chromosomes line up along the middle of the cell.
  • Step 3) Metaphase
  • In Anaphase, the chromatids separate and begin to move to opposite ends of the cell; they move away from one another. This process causing the cell to stretch out.
  • Step 4) Anaphase
  • During the last step of Mitosis, telophase, the chromosomes begin to stretch out and lose their rod like appearance. Then two new nuclei form.
  • Step 5) Telophase
  • During Cytokinesis, the cell membrane pinches around the middle of cell and eventually the cell will pinches into two. Each daughter cell ends up with the same number of identical chromosomes.
  • Step 6) Cytokinesis
