Storyboard Text

  • You, old priest, your advanced years well-qualify you to represent this youth.
  • Why are you here?
  • Oedipus, are you blind? Do you not notice your city suffering?
  • King of our Thebes, Oedipus!
  • Oedipus, if you wish to rule this city, and I know you do, then it is far better to rule it when it is filled with men rather then when it is scraped hollow of them.
  • Oh no, my poor children!
  • You judge time well, Oedipus. There he is!
  • In fact, Creon should have returned by now and I'm beginning to worry.
  • He certainly looks happy, otherwise he wouldn't be wearing such a splendid garland of Laurel!
  • His face looks happy enough! Perhaps he is carrying good news! News that will save our city.
  • We'll know soon enough. He's close enough to hear us now.
  • Good news! That is to say, I think that even the worst events could bring good fortune if fortune wills it!
  • By banishing that murderer or by washing away the blood of that murder with the blood of another murder.
  • Theres a wound that eats at the very heart of our city's soul.
  • What sort of wound is this and how can we purge the city of it?
  • Speak here, in front of them. I mourn for their lives more than I do for my own.
  • I know of Laius though I never saw him.
  • He said he was going to the oracle himself but he never managed to return. All but one of them fled and he could only say one thing.
  • We have been wondering the same thing.
  • The man said Laius was murdered by the hands of many thieves.
  • One thing such as what? Tell us! We could learn great deal and get a hint!
  • I need to fix this. I will help.
  • How could thieves be so daring?
