  • On this night in 1775, Paul Revere was instructed by the Sons of Liberty to ride to Lexington, Mass., to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock that British troops were marching to arrest them
  • Article of confederation weakness(81-87)
  • fought on June 17, 1775, during the Siege of Boston in the early stages of the American Revolutionary War. 
  • Constitution signed(sept 1987)
  • Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington as French and American forces trapped the British at Yorktown. The British surrender at the Battle of Yorktown ended the American Revolutionary War.
  • Washington unanimously elected
  • The federal government, under the Articles, was too weak to enforce their laws and therefore had no power. 
  •  39 delegates to the Constitutional Convention, representing 12 states, endorsed the Constitution created during the four-month-long convention.
  •  George Washington was unanimously elected president of the United States. With 69 electoral votes, Washington won the support of each participating elector.
