"So we wished to be sent to the home of the scholars"
Equality has felt like an outside his whole life, he was excited to be put somewhere he would belong. He dreamed of being a scholar fro the longest time. His dream didn't come true. Equality was placed in the home of the street sweepers. He was upset but he said still "The will of our brothers be done" ( Rand 26)
the golden one
In this scene Equality sees Liberty 5-3000 for the first time and is instantly head over heels. He later gives her the name "Golden One" because she is nothing like anyone he's ever seen before. (Rand 41)
What do we look like?
Equality discovered "a new power of nature" all by himself. He is overwhelmed with emotions of pride and fear. He wants to share it with the council but is afraid they won't understand and will not forgive him. (Rand 52)
We can escape
Equality and Liberty have a conversation which is not allowed. Equality tells Liberty he calls her "The Golden One." Liberty then tells him she has a name for him also, " The Unconquered" (rand 56/57)
What is our name?
In this scene, Equality is realizing he cares about his body and how he looks. Equality says "Yes, we do care. For the first time do we care about our body." This is a turning point for Equality as he takes another step towards individualism. (Rand 61)
Equality lost track of time and didn't return home in time. He was questioned by the council and answered: "We will not tell you." Equality was then taken to the Palace of Corrective Detention. After a few days and nights, he easily escaped confinement into the forest. (Rand 63)
