Death in Slow Motion is a story by Eleanor Cooney, storyboard is by Amelia C.In 1990's California the author and her husband keep getting calls from the authors Mother. Her mind isn't as sharp as she used to be, forgetting small things or memories. The Mom goes to see a doctor.
Eleanor's Mother gets diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Her and her brother move their Mom from Connecticut to California. Everything is fine for now.
During her stay the Mom becomes more and more senile. The stress from all of the constant noise and repeats of questions from her Mom causes Eleanor and her husband to start drinking and becoming more and more depressed.
The author and her husband attempts to put the Mom in a nursing home. The Mom gets put on meds while in a home. The meds caused the Mom to become aggressive. Eleanor takes her Mother back in and takes her off of the meds and that calms her down.
Eleanor and her husband find a home for her. The home is more trained and the Mom (and Eleanor) were very happy. Eleanor and her brother finish moving their Mom's stuff out of the house after moving the Mom out 2 years ago.
The Mom ends up making friends. She remains happy and Eleanor and her husband visits her every once and awhile.
