Storyboard Text

  • Nine months ago, the Romans captured the Sabine women and made them their wives.
  • Tarpeia's new husband was not a fearsome man, but she longed for her Sabine beloved to free her from Rome.
  • Unbeknownst to their former wives, the Sabines had been steadily raising an army since the day of Rome's attack, and were ready to retaliate.
  • However, once the Sabine leader Titus Tatius approached the walled city, he found no doors through which the Sabines could enter.
  • Tarpeia showed the Sabines the secret door to Rome, betraying her new husband and new city.
  • However, Tarpeia demanded gold in exchange for letting them into Rome. Feeling betrayed that Tarpeia chose greed over her allegiance to them, the Sabines killed her and stormed the door.
