Without acid rain: soil, lakes, animals and trees would all be healthy
Fossil fuels are burnt in power stations to make electricity
Fossil fuels like coal contain impurities such as sulphur which makes sulphur dioxide when burnt
Sulphur dioxide dissolves in rain water to make acid rain, very dangerous
Acid rain falls. It makes soil and lake acidic. It kills plants and animals.
We can reduce this by burning less fossil fuels eg in cars and to make electricity
