Storyboard Text

  • The Merchant of Venice Act 2, Scene 9
  • Prince Arragon takes an oath in which he agrees to three things:  that he can never tell anyone which casket he chose, if he chooses the wrong casket he must immediately leave and if he chooses the right casket he shall marry Portia.
  • " I am enjoin' d by oath to observe three things: ... "
  • Prince Arragon decides that the gold and lead caskets do not hold what he desires and decides to move on to the third and final cakset, the Silver casket.
  • Prince Arragon prepares to open the third, and final casket after reading the inscription that said " Who chooseth me shall have as much as he deserves".
  • " Give me a key for this,   And instantly unlcock my fortunes here."
  • Once he opened the casket he immediately regretted it, for it did not hold a picture of Portia but instead the portrait of a blinking idiot!
  • "How much unlike thou to Portia!" "How much unlike my hopes and deservings!"
