  • We are learning about the Industrial Revolution, grandpa. But did it impact anything today?
  • I'll tell you about it, Laura!
  • Henry Ford invented Mass production which helped the factories function and meet the demand for products. This is the base for manufacturing in the present day. The assembly line emerged too.
  • This was because the population of the urban cities increased as everyone started immigrating for better work opportunities and lifestyle
  • The inventions of the Industrial Revolution have a long-term impact on today's world. When you call, you use something provided by Alexander Graham Bell, an inventor of the Industrial Revolution. This has helped us communicate today.
  • As we see today too, urbanisation is very important. Everyone moves to the cities for job opportunities and to earn.
  •  Not only that, new types of political ideas emerged and they were tried out in those days. Capitalism was an idea that Adam Smith came up with. Laissez Faire meant that the government would not interfere with the work and trade of the businessman. He thought this was effective because people would work for their own private companies, to be competitive, and to meet the demand of the product.
  • Society has adapted to change so fast and people had started moving from rural to urban places.
  • Everyone started moving from these farms to developed cities with factories for job opportunities and a hope for a better lifestyle.
  • Because of the increase in the population, the inventions were created so that mass production is possible and it helps make life easier for the people who work. This led to the building of factories where workers worked.
  • Because of this, a new social class emerged that we see today too. The social class was middle class and they owned the factories in the industry. Their lifestyle was much more comfortable than the working class, as we see today too. They also included the entrepreneurs who set the industrial revolution's base.
  • New kinds of transportations emerged too after the invention of a steam engine. The steam locomotive was invented by George Stephenson. All of these help create the other transportations we use today.
  • The bad part was that the working class and some of the middle class didn't have access to the transportations, but now most of the society does.
  • Thank you, Grandpa!
  • If people believed in Capitalism, the businessmen earned more and the whole nation's wealth was with the businessmen. I knew a farmer once. Later he had started to work at a factory. He used to work all day, without a break. He earned less than the person who worked very less in the cotton mill. This is why people liked communism where an equal amount of wealth to everyone and the government interfered. Through these, different political ideas developed! Hope you understood the impacts of the revolution!
