Hi, I am Rashi and I am talking to you from the Kaivalyadhama campus in Lonavala. A year back I would
have not imagined myself ever being here. In fact, I had not even heard about Kaivalyadhama until a few
Let me tell you a quick story about myself
I have a high flying job with an MNC. I have a loving husband, two children, however life was chaotic
with all the travel and work pressures.
My family worried and insisted that I take it easy and take care of my health as well.
My husband was reading a medical report and informed me that cancer and other non communicable
diseases have been rising significantly in India. He also read in some place that non communicable
diseases like Cancer and Diabetes cause 70% of all death globally. And most of these people belong to
low and middle income families.
I shrugged off the information, unconcerned, confident that nothing will happen to me.
And then suddenly one day, just like that, without any notice my whole world turned upside down!!
The doctor saw my latest blood reports and informed me that I have a cancerous tumor in my right
ovary and it was spreading
While I was going through the intense cancer treatment schedule, an old friend, Priya, visited me. She
used to practice Yoga regularly and had recently visited Kaivalyadhama in Lonavala and told me it is one
of the oldest Yoga research institutes in the world.
I was surprised to learn that over the last few years, they have been doing scientific and evidence based
research on how Yoga and holistic care can help cancer survivors and those suffering from other non
communicable diseases, can once again reclaim their health.
I connected with the Kaivalyadham administrator.
(Kdham administrator : Over the last six years, we have been conducting intensive three week yoga and
holistic care programs for cancer survivors and for people suffering from non communicable diseases.
The program is not only aimed at healing the body, but also works towards strengthening the mind and
I also interacted with one of the participants from the program and was told - With just three weeks
here, I am already beginning to feel more positive and more rejuvenated both mentally as well as
physically. The cancer treatment was very painful and drained out all my life, but the yoga routines,
therapy sessions, organic whole food diet and the ambience and energy of the place have made a huge
After hearing what Priya had to say, my family encouraged me to enroll for the program and I spent
three weeks here last month.
(Kdham administrator : The Holistic Care Program has become highly popular. However, we have not
been able to cater to over 75% of the people who reach out to us, because of the lack of infrastructure
In order to cater to more people the trust has decided to create a dedicated “Holistic Care Centre for
Cancer Survivors and Lifestyle Conditions”, within the Lonavala campus. True to its intent, it is called
The plan is to create this as a 30 room facility. However, just the funds from the trust will not be
sufficient and we will need people to come forward and donate generously to the cause, so that Project
Anand comes to life as planned and many more people can benefit from it.)
From my personal experience, the program has been a gift of life for me and I wish that many more
people benefit from this program.
Everyone wants a better life, but very few of us contribute towards creating a better life for others.
We at Kaivalyadhama invite you to join us in creating a better life for everyone!!
