Their Eyes Were Watching God - Project for American Literature
After Joe sees someone that isn't him admiring Janie's hair, he gives her a scarf to wear in public. Janie disagrees and fights for herself, but ends up wearing it anyways. After this, we can see the anger Janie has building up.
After Janie fails to make a clean cut of a customer's tobacco, the customer laughs it off. Joe, on the other hand, criticizes Janie and makes her feel like she is good for nothing. Janie fires back with insults, and we can wee that Janie is finally willing to defend herself.
Only moments before Joe passes, Janie sits with him and talks. She tells him about how he has abused her over the years. Even though Joe tells her to leave, Janie keeps talking. This is proof of the anger Janie has held in for him.
My identity was positively influenced by Gabby Douglas's drive to achieve her dreams. She is one of the reasons why I work as hard as possible every day,
Gabby Douglas once said, "Hard days are the best because that's when champions are made." This quote speaks speaks to me because I can relate to it on a personal level. When I have a bad game, I feel like a loser. This feeling is hard to get by, so if you push and get through it, you know your spirit has grown stronger.
Gabby Douglas has received a huge amount of hate from many people. Thousands of people have said that she wouldn't win a single medal, but she proved them all wrong. This inspires me to push my hardest every day and that I can do anything I put my mind to.
