  • Tom vs. Gatsby
  • You're crazy! Daisy will never marry a man like you! All you do is go around and sell illegal alchol!
  • Nick vs. himself
  • After what just happened I hope I never see the East again. I don't think my life will ever be the same again.
  • Daisy vs. herself
  • This is too much to think about. Tom and Gatsby won't stop fighting, and I don't know whose side to take. I guess I will just join with Tom.
  • This is the climax of the novel where Gatsby tells Tom of his affair with Daisy. When Tom finds out he is furious, and starts to make Gatsby look bad to win back Daisy .
  • This is at the end of the novel. Nick is disappointed by what he witnessed in the East. This ties into the theme of apperance vs. reality becaus Nick thought the East would be a great opportunity, but it turned out to be terrible.
  • This is at the climax of the novel when Tom and Gatsby are fighting over Daisy. She does not know what to do. The theme evident here is materlism because in the end she chooses Tom because of his money.
