  • The story of the modernization of Russia starts off with a war. The Crimean war which the Russian empire lost to the alliance of France, Britain and the Ottoman Empire.
  • Serfdom was abolished in 1861 by Alexander II.
  • Alexander II was assassinated in 1881 near the city of Saint Petersburg, Russia.
  • I got this undercontrol.
  • A revolution in 1905 by Father Gapon caused a small-scale revolt which was quickly put down by leaders earned the name bloody sunday because of the bloodshed.
  • Following the revolution of 1905 in Russia, Tsar Nicholas II promised reforms in the government with the October Manifesto. The Fundamental Laws formalised a new system of monarchy.
  • Sergei Witte was a Russian leader who was helpful in settling the people after the revolts of 1905.
