Tybalt and Mercutio draw their swords and fight. To stop the battle, Romeo steps between them and Tybalt stabs Mercutio under Romeo's arm.
I cannot fight my wife's cousin
Mercutio's wound is fatal and he dies. Blinded by rage over Mercutio's death, Romeo attacks Tybalt and kills him.
The prince banishes Romeo from Verona for being proven guilty of Tybalt's death.
"A plague o' both your houses!"
"Staying for thine to keep him (Mercutio) company. Either thou or I, or both, must go with him"
Upon hearing that Romeo has been banished, Juliet is overwhelmed by grief. The Nurse tells Juliet that Romeo is hiding at Friar Laurence's cell. Juliet sends the Nurse with a ring, bidding Romeo to come.
"Tybalt is gone, and Romeo banished; Romeo that killed him, he is banished"
"And bid him come to take his last farewell"
Romeo’s mention of death frightens Juliet, and she urges him to leave quickly.
Juliet continues to pretend it is night to keep Romeo from leaving. Romeo says he’ll stay if Juliet wishes it, even if it means death.
"Yond light is not daylight; I know it, I."
Juliet's marriage with Paris had been scheduled. However, by acting according to Friar Laurence's plan, Juliet takes the sleeping potion. Later to be found by the Nurse, and considered dead.
The Friar's letter informing Romeo of the plan, who had left to Mantua, did not reach him. Romeo arrives beside Juliet with poison for him to drink and reunite with Juliet, whom he believes is dead.
"Thou desperate pilot, now at once run on. The dashing rocks thy seasick weary bark! Here’s to my love"
