Out here in the Arctic, it gets pretty chilly. These bears have to eat a lot of food to keep their metabolism running and stay warm. There are many variations of different types of bears, but the two most prominent are light and dark coloring.
Everyone has heard the saying you are what you eat; for the bears, that proves to be true, as their diet is reflected by the coloring of their coat! Based on their coloring, they could only eat that food for their entire life!
But the only problem was as the different color's populations increased, their food sources decreased. There were just too many bears and too little food!
Sadly, all of the colored bears died off because they couldn't eat the other types of food. But, the last two polar bears became friends and fell in love. Because of the abundance of food, they had a lot of luck reproducing healthy little bears.
Lucky for the polar bears, since there were no other bears to eat the spiders, goldfish and dinosaurs, all of those food sources replenished. Throughout the new polar bear generations, there was a genetic mutation where the polar bears could now process any food, increasing their reproductive advantage!
After a few generations, the polar bears were thriving with an abundant food source and no competition!
