- Hello, I'm Letitia Youmans!
- Youmans was a Christian school teacher who became an activist for the temperance movement. Youmans founded and served as the first president of the Ontario chapter of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
- In 1876, Youmans and participators believed that alcohol abuse was the cause of unemployment, sex work, poverty, violence against women and children, and immortality.

- Ever since the WCTU's bold statement, they've also had gain more respect within the country. In addition, because of the acceptance of women became huge. The governent had decided on the right of voting. At first the WCTU didn't really care about women voting at first, because it wasn't their focus. After that law passed the WCTU were thankful, but since had the priority of alcohol laws.
- People thought Youmans and the WCTU's claims of alcohol were outrageous. People were furious and thought they were lying. The people asked for facts, so scientists proved the facts and began to teach adults and younger children about the dangers of alcohol.
- 1. alcohol makes you loose control of your mind 2. causes illness
- it's true guys, science proved it!
- There might've been no success for Youmans when she was alive, but from 1918-1920 there was a national prohibition law due to wartime. Even after war, some communities stayed under the law of prohibition for a few extra months. Many temperance movements were happy, and tried to keep prohibition laws for longer but weren't too successful.
- The WCTU went on for over 84 years, but fully faded in 1960 when people kept leaving the movement, and people stopped invested their time into other things such as letting aboriginal peoples vote, and etc.
- When I passed away women kept the WCTU's movement going, but it eventually faded in 1960.
