My family is starving! My husband spends all his time hunting with hardly any success!
Mommy I'm hungry!!
I only found a few berries.
What if we put this potato in the ground and see if it grows!
A few days later.....
It grew! This is a revolution! Now we can grow food and then we wont starve!
Now people farm a variety of crops.
A few months later.....
And use animals.
The year is around 8000 B.C and life is dangerous and hard. Everyone was a nomad. Nomads are people who wander around looking for food. Everyone was dying. Nobody had a permanent home, everyone was stuck looking for food only to get hungrier and hungrier. If they stayed in one place too long food would run out. And it would run out fast. Things were not looking good.
Neolithic Age: After Surplus of Food/ Permanent Home
And I'm exited to be able to have food to feed my family!
I'm so exited to finally be able to live in a permanent home!
Eventually the people had a brilliant idea. What if they could grow their own food where they lived so they wouldn't have to spend all their time hunting and gathering.
Neolithic Age: After Specialized Dream Jobs
Now that we don't need to spend all of our time trying to find food, I can finally weave baskets!
I can make tools!
I can now build houses!
Now people have advanced agriculture. Ever since the people realized that the potato grew they started to plant more crops. And they also started to domesticate animals. They used mules to help carry heavy loads and pull plows. Goats and cattle provided the people milk and sheep goats and cattle for meat.
Neolithic Age: After Trading
Now that the people don't have to frequently move homes to get food, they now can have permanent homes insted of the tent like ones. And now with so much food growing and meat from animals people finally know that their children wont go to sleep starved.
And I'll be able to enjoy my baby not crying! For now....
With it being easier to find food, the people have more time on their hands. So now they can pursue whatever job they want. It would better the community by getting more done with more people doing different tasks.
People in different areas are better at some things than others. So people who are good at fishing but need produce, they would trade fish to other people who need fish and have a surplus of produce. So in short, the discovery of agriculture changed the world.
