Storyboard Text

  • The founders of the Pony Express were three men named William Russell, Alexander Majors and William Waddell.
  • They created the pony express because as the American Civil War got closer, more and more people wanted to send mail.
  • The "mochila" or backpack was placed over both sides of the saddle while, the rider held it down with his weight.
  • The "cantina" or pockets is where the mail was placed for safe travel.
  • Riders like Billy rode in both the day and night.
  • However much like Billy, many riders bumped into Paiute Indians who were trouble!
