Storyboard Text

  • One hot morning, Tea Cake decided to play checkers with the rest of the town to show off his skills.
  • Janie wants to play too, and Says She Shall Show them she can win.
  • This shows alliteration because there is a repetition of the same sound in the beginning of several words.
  • This is such a capricious act!!!
  • Janie took Tea Cake's drink in front of everyone. In this time period, that act is considered outrageous.
  • I never expected Janie to do something like this. This was so unpredictable.
  • Janie drinks Tea Cake's soda because she is thirsty. This is an example of a Double-Entendre since being thirsty can mean two things. In this case, Janie is thirsty because it is hot outside and she is thirsty for Tea Cake. She wants to draw his attention so she does this.
  • As Janie continues to play, she is ridiculed and loses badly.
  • This game hates me and gives me a headache!!!!!
  • Janie please try to calm down. The game does not hate you. It can't! It is only a game.
  • Janie uses Personification, which is the act of giving human characteristics to non-human things.
  • Janie's new behaviors surprise people and they use those new behaviors to describe her character, She is now seen as:
  • Characterization
  • Daring
  • Desperate
  • Free (from restrictions)
  • Outgoing
