Storyboard Text

  • Antigone
  • Odeipus's sons, Polynieces and Eteocles, battle for the throne of Thebes after his death. Polynieces assembles an army to fight against Eteocoles and they kill each other in battle.
  • Creon makes his way to his throne and issues a law that no one shall bury Polynieces, who he names a traitor.
  • Creon: "As long as I am king, no traitor is going to be honored with the loyal man."(Scene 1, Line 44-45)
  • Antigone: "That must be your excuse, I suppose. But as for me, I will bury the brother I love."(Prologue, Line 64-65)
  • Antigone then decides to bury her brother, Polynieces, while Ismene tries to convince her not to, and disobeys Creon's law.
  • Ismene: "They mean a great deal to me;but I have no strength To break laws that were made for the public good."
  • Creon orders Antigone to be killed, and his son Haemon, who was engaged to Antigone, tries to convince his father not to.
  • Creon: "You'll never marry her while she is alive."(Scene 3, Line 18) 
  • Haemon: "Then she must die. But her death will cause another."(Scene 3, Line 19)
  • Antigone: "And sifting soft snow;her tears are never done. I feel the lonliness of her death in mine."(Scene 4, Line 19-20)
  • Antigone then proceeds to her death, mourning her destiny.
  • Creon: "I have killed my wife and my son. I look for comfort;my comfort lies here dead."(Scene 5, Line 135-136)
  • Creon decides to free Antigone, but he is too late; as he arrives in the burial vault, he finds Antigone dead and watches Haemon stab himself.
