Storyboard Text

  • Mussolini was born in July 29, 1883 in Predappio, Italy. As a child he was very angry and disobedient. He was a bully at school and because of his behaviour he got expelled from two schools. However he was very intelligent and obtained a teaching diploma.
  • Benito, why is your behaviour so bad?
  • I said, LEAVE ME ALONE!!!
  • When Mussolini got older he moved to Switzerland and started producing propaganda, proposing strike and advocating violence as a means of enforcing demands. For that he got arrested many times. He became known as a man of remarkable rhetorical talents.
  • Strike, violence, this is what we need to enforce our demands. Italy should not enter the war!!!
  • He was very anti-nationalist and anti-imperialist and he opposed Italy entering the war. However he soon changed his mind and began writing articles that were in support of the war. He got expelled from the Socialist Party and he went to fight in the war.
  • A new article of Benito Mussolini just came out! Read why the young Italian wants Italy to join the war. Just 2 euros for a copy!
  • Ok, than I will go and fight in the war!
  • You are expelled from the Socialist Party!
  • He came back from the war an anti-socialist and began promoting his ideas. In February 1918 he advocated the emergence of a dictator and he hinted that he himself might prove to be such a man. He established a new force in Italian politics called the “fasci di combattimento." Fascism was created.
  • Italy needs a dictator and perhaps I'm the best candidate for this role.
  • Che cosa è il "fasci combattimento"?
  • The Fascist party began gaining popularity. Mussolini was great orator. His attitudes were theatrical his opinions contradictory and his facts were often wrong. However he rarely failed to impose his mood. By the 1921 the Fascists controlled large parts of Italy.
  • IL FASCISMO .
  • Il DUCE BENITO MUSSOLINI
  • In 1920 the Blackshirt squads began to attack local government, but the government did little to combat. In 1922 the trade union called a strike, the Fascists helped to defeat it and gained a lot of power. On October 24 Mussolini threatened the government, and decided t four days after, the Fascia militia would advance on Rome. They were led by the “Quadrumviri”.
