  • In the introduction of this story it introduces characters such as; Miss Emily, Homer Barron, Tobe, and Colonel Satortis. The setting of this story is in an old house in small town in Mississippi, from 1861-1933. The real telling of this story begins when Miss Emily's father dies. This sparks the main to conflicts in the story which are person vs society and person vs person.
  • After the death of her father Miss Emily attempts to deny the fact that he is even dead. This is the first rising action.
  • The second rising action is when the police show up on Miss Emily's doorstep and attempt to make her pay taxes. She refuses as she states that she is exempt as part of a deal her father made with the former sherriff
  • The climax of this story is when Miss Emily goes into the pharmacy to get arsenic to kill Homer Barron
  • The falling action of this story is when Miss Emily locks herself in her house and shields out the outside world entirely
  • The conclusion to this story is when the townspeople find Emily's deceased body sleeping with Homer Barron's decayed, dead body and realizes she is a necrophiliac
