Militarism- Multiple nations of Europe had competition to colonize parts of Africa & Asia. That created trust barriers and competitions therefore Europe felt the need for war, and they created a powerful military. Other nations began doing the same thing
Alliances- Military alliances were designed for peace, but were the complete opposite and pushed towards war. Germany's biggest threat was France and after the war Germany made the Triple alliance. Basically the countries in the alliances had eachother's backs.
Nationalism- Created competition because they wanted to overpower one another. New rivalries began to form, and old ones continued. Some countries even demanded independence because of this.
Imperialism- The desire for conquest made the competition for new sources, new trade which then made tension between Europe and nations. When imperialism increased so did the militarism because they go hand in hand.
Assassination- The assassination of Archduke & his wife was done by a member of the black hand. Before the assassination there was no trust and a lot of dislike between Austro-Hunagrians and Serbia. Gavrilo tried giving excuses for the mruders, but Austria had enough and decided to settle on war.
