Macbeth had Banquo murdered and was going to have Fleance murdered as well but Fleance ran away. Later on Macbeth see ghost of Banquo while he is at a banquet. This scares Macbeth to go talk to the three witches again.

In Act 2, Scene 1 of Macbeth we read a monologue from Macbeth himself. Macbeth is showing incites to what the rest of the act will reveal. he talks about a dagger, a ghost, and how everything is just imagination. He inferences about a murder. We have reason to believe that Macbeth is talking about the murder of Banquo since Macbeth knows that Banquo saw him talking to the witches.

The connotative meaning of this is that Macbeth is obviously going crazy and also that Macbeth believes that if they go through with killing Banquo then people will realize that him and Lady Macbeth are the ones behind it.
Methought I heard a voice cry "Sleep no more!"
The meaning is that even the predator can be killed by the prey and that even if the predator is prideful the prey can get the better of it. The tone is an elder is trying to teach an apprentice about the dangers in the world.
