Principle #1-Genetic Variation There is genetic variation in beetles. In this scenario there are brown and green beetles.
Principle #2-Overproduction of offspring The green beetles are reproducing so much that its environment can't support it.
Principle #2 Because of the overproduction of green beetles, they begin to get weeded out.
Principle #3-Differential Survival and Reproduction The brown beetles have better fitness than the green beetles because they can camouflage better in the trees.
Principle #4- Change in Gene Pool Since the brown beetles have higher fitness, there will be more brown beetles causing a change in the beetle's gene pools (all of the genotypes in a population).
In natural selection the organism with better fitness gets to survive and reproduce. In this scenario, the green beetle doesn't have good fitness, so therefore it doesn't reproduce.
