5- A big storm starts. The family gets all the animals from the field. They stay in the barn all night.
3- Sarah tells them she never touched a sheep before. She is very excited to see the lambs and the sheep. She names them after her favorite aunts.
1- The story begins with Caleb asking his older sister, Anna, about what happened to their mother. Caleb's mother died after giving birth to him. Papa comes home from town and tells them he placed an ad in the newspaper to ask for a wife and mother for his kids.
2- Papa receives a letter from Sarah Wheaton who lives by the sea in Maine. Caleb, Anna and Papa write letters to Sarah. They agree that she could come and Sarah says she will come by train.
4- Papa teaches Sarah how to plow the fields. Sarah asks Caleb and Anna about winter in the prairies. They tell Sarah that they go to school in the winter.
6- After the storm, Sarah learns to drive the wagon. The next day, she drives into town. She returns home and gives Caleb, Anna and Papa gifts she got into town.
