Storyboard Text

  • "Because man and woman are the complement of one another, we need woman's thought in national affairs to make a safe and stable government."-Elizabeth Cady Stanton
  • SENECA FALLS CONVENTION, 1848
  • We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men and women are created equal.
  • We are fighting for our CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to be treated as equals, therefore we MUST have the same rights.
  • SENECA FALLS CONVENTION, 1848
  • Women don't have the right to vote, which is a right given to many unqualified men. Women are forced to abide under laws they did not consent.
  • The system was designed to whittle a woman’s “confidence in her own powers, to lessen her self-respect, and to make her willing to lead a dependent and life.”
  • SENECA FALLS CONVENTION, 1848
  • We want equal opportunity for jobs, equality in the church, equal education opportunities, equal ownership rights, and the right to vote!
  • SENECA FALLS CONVENTION, 1848
  • Women are forced to obey their husbands, cannot own property, and any income they receive goes straight to their husbands. Women are DEMANDING to be treated as humans, not expected to be subservient.
  • Men can legally beat their wives, divorce falls in the favor of the husband, and child custody also falls in the favor of the father.
  • SENECA FALLS CONVENTION, 1848
  • Women will not be unheard and will not stop until we are granted the rights we should already have.
  • SENECA FALLS CONVENTION, 1848
