Storyboard Text

  • Why is there still so much racial discrimination?
  • Also it seems like this world still functions on blind faith rather than logic, a lot.
  • I don't know, I actually see promise here. People are all dressed so vibrantly. There is a clear hierarchy in terms of social class, which reminds me of palace life. Also the music and art of this era is so elegant and sophisticated.
  • Galileo Galilei, W.E.B. Dubois and Sei Shonagon are all temporarily given first hand experiences of the 21st century. Due to the events of their lives, each reaction is different than the other.
  • This version of America may have its faults, but it is on its way to becoming equal. Everything from the Civil Rights Acts to Barack Obama is a step in the right direction and America must contiue onward.
  • Du Bois and Galileo function outside of the "Veil," used to placate members of society. Immediately they see similarities in their world compared to our own.
  • America put a machine on Mars, why don't more people care? This is unbelievable.
  • Shonagon comes from a life of luxury and privilege. Modern American life is also familiar to her. She can see the good in modern life. But living behind the "Veil" has blinded her from seeing the problems with society. She's more concerned with fashion and music.
  • Everyone here is overworked, where's the time for leisure, to enjoy yourself? I would be undoubtedly stressed, especially with the notion of this "wage gap inequality." Things need to change in this country.
  • Although DuBois is convinced America has ways to go with its race relations, he does see that significant progress has been made since his time. He comes to the conclusion all Americans need to keep striving for equality and will achieve it one day.
  • Although initially off put by the influence of faith in everyday living, Galileo is impressed with renewed interest in the solar system. He can see that the pursuit of knowledge is still great, general interest from regular citizens must be generated cultivated.
  • Sei Shonagon's veil is removed. Shonagon is used to being equal to any man, and having time to herself. After this she is thankful to have been lucky enough to live in the royal palace and recognizes the struggles of others.
