The victim wore an Eisenhower jacket and old trousers and no tie. They got on the 8th Avenue independent subway and they conducted the experiment between 59th and 125th street because there were no stops between these stations meaning they had 7 and a half minuted to do the experiment. The drunk man always had a black cane.
The victim got onto the train and stood in the critical area and waited for 70 seconds then carried out his duties of falling over. There was always one model, one victim and 2 observers. The observers were sat in the adjacent area at all times making notes of everything that was going on and who was where in the carriage.
He Fell over pretending to be ill or drunk. He did this 70 seconds into the journey and he stayed on the floor until someone came to help him or the model came to sit him up.
The victim was sat up by the model if no one came to help.(The model started in the adjacent area and came into the critical area if no one came after 70 or 150 seconds. The Model is the man in blue)
Sometimes the participants stood up and walked away from the victim and they moved to the adjacent area.
At the end of the journey all the people got off the train and continued acting until everyone had gone. They then did the experiment again but on the train on the opposite platform going in the opposite direction.
