Act III, Scene II begins with Caliban, Triniculo and Stephano. Caliban hates Triniculo becuse he keeps calling him a monster. Stephano tries to control Caliban, but does not have much luck doing so.
Caliban wants/suggests that they kill Prospero (The rightful Duke of Milan) and steal his books and his daughter, Miranda. Stephano agrees and likes this idea since he sees himself as ruler and husband to Miranda. However, Ariel, a servant to Prospero, overhears this information and hurries to tell him.
I think we should kill Prospero and take his books and daughter!!
Ariel confuses matters by causing mischief between Triniculo, a drunk Caliban and Stephano. He causes them to believe everyone is interrupting each other.
Hey I'm talking!!!
No you interrupted me!!
Stephano beats Triniculosince he defied Caliban. He forces Triniculo to stand at a distance so he can plot with Caliban about overthrowing Prospero.
How dare you defy Caliban!!! Stay over there!!!
Caliban and Stephano both conspire and agree to overthrow Prospero, marry his daughter (Miranda) and rule the island.
Ariel interrupts the conspiracy by playing music. Stephano and Triniculo follow the music, hoping they find the musician, while Caliban stays back.
