Othello begins on a street in Venice, in the midst of an argument between Rodrigo, a rich man, and iago, a jealous and overbending man.
Othello and Desdemona are secretly married
Cassio arrives at Othello's lodge pleading for his help to fight against the Turks in Cyprus
Iago plants Desdemona's handkerchief is Cassio's room so it looks like their both having an affair. Othello believes Iago and vows that he will not stop until he has his revenge.
Othello enters Desdemona's room while she is asleep. Desdemona awakens and pleads with Othello not to kill her, but he begins to smother her. Emilia knocks and Othello lets her in. He tries to conceal Desdemona, who he thinks is already dead. Emilia brings the news of Roderigo's death, and Cassio's wounding.
Othello stabs Iago when he is brought back in; Othello then tells all present to remember him how he is, and kills himself.
