  • Exposition
  • some places have already quit lotteries
  • Rising Action
  • you didn't give him enough time!
  • Climax
  • In a small town during the month of June a lottery is held in the center of town. The lottery is hosted by Mr. Summers and the leader of each house hold is told to draw from a box filled with slips.
  • Falling Action
  • lets finish quickly
  • Bill Hutchinson draws for his family and happens to win the lottery. This means the Hutchinson family has to individual draw for the true winner.
  • Resloution
  • Each person of the Hutchinson family take turns drawing from the box until Tessie Draws a slip with a large dot in the center of the paper.
  • Literary Term - Irony
  • Tessie began to scream out and protest that the drawings were not fair, while the villagers began to retrieve the stones that they previously gathered and surround her.
  • Tessie continues to scream as she is hit with a stone on the side of her head and Old Man Warner eggs on the crowd then they unleash on Tessie.
  • Whats ironic about the story is that typically when you think of a winning Lottery you think its a good thing but in this story it is not a good thing to win the lottery because you die.
