  • So, Mussolini became the youngest prime minister in Italian history on the 31st of October, 1922. He really wanted to demonstrate that he was not only the leader of Fascism but also of United Italy. In the 1924 elections his personal power was secured. 
  • Alcide de Gasperi 9.0%
  • Giacomo Matteotti 5.9%
  • Viva L'Italia!!!
  • Most of the middle class welcomed his power because they thought that he is the only one that could bring order out of chaos, and what they thought was indeed correct. He did a lot for Italy like he started many public works, programs, and he also modernised and transformed Italy into a better country. Therefore many public figures around the world were calling him Superman.
  • I will make life in Italy better!!! Viva L'Italia!!!
  • Viva Mussolini, Mussolini!!!!!
  • In 1935 Mussolini seemed conquest, so invaded Ethiopia which he also wanted to colonise. But then sanctions were opposed on Italy and the colonisation didn't happen. Later on may 9th, 1936 he made a speech in piazza Venezia, Rome to 400,000 people which marked the peek of public support for his regime.

  • Then Italy found an ally who was Germany. They opened a way for the pact of steel-a Rome-Berlin axis. And in 1938 Mussolini's government passed anti semitic rules which discriminated jews, and later 20% of Italy's Jews were sent to German concentration camps.
