  • In the Road of Trials stage the hero must complete three specific trials. In the Beowulf his three trials are: killing Grendel, killing Grendel's Mom, and killing the dragon. The quote I found was the completion of the third trial.
  • "Then, the story goes, a certain man Plundered the hoard in the immemorial howe, Filled his arms with flagons and plates, Anything he wanted..." 2773-2776

  • The Ultimate Boon stage is the part where the hero gets a prize or gift for completing his trials. In Beowulf the dragon represents greed and it has hoard of gold that it protects. So, after Beowulf and Wiglaf slay the dragon they get his gold.
  • "That  was  the  warrior’s  last  word. He had no more to confide.  The furious heat Of the pyre would assail him.  His soul fled from his breast To its destined place among the steadfast ones." 2816-2820

  • The Freedom to Live stage is the last stage in the hero's journey in which the hero is able to celebrate if victory in peace. In Beowulf's case he dies, and finally gets to rest in peace after a long successful life where he completed all three trials.
