“‘I’m Charles Baker Harris,’ he said. ‘I can read’”(TKAM 8)
Dill Meets Scout and Jem
I'm Charles Baker Harris. I can read.
Dill Ran Away From Home
“He stood up and eased his shoulders, turned his feet in their ankle sockets, rubbed the back of his neck. His circulation restores, he said, ‘Hey’”(TKAM 186).
The Kids Sneak Out With Dill
“Dill’s face appeared at the screen, disappeared, and five minutes later he unhooked the screen and crawled out”(TKAM 199).
Dill first met Scout and Jem. They all greet each other and are immediately onto a conversation. This shows how friendly and innocent Dill is.
Dill was hiding under the bed when he ran away from home. Shows that he is loyal to Scout and Jem and is also a little rash and tends to rush into things without much thought.
Scout and Jem are going to check on Atticus and stop by for Dill first. He doesn’t say anything and simply comes with them without even asking where they are going at a late hour. This shows how he trusts his friends and is also a little mischievous.
