In the castle, everyone is wondering about Hamlet's whereabouts. They want to find where he put Polonius' dead body. The King is concerned because he could have been the one dead.
Hamlet finally gives up where he put the body of Polonius. The King reveals that he will send Hamlet to England with the intentions of getting him killed by the King of England.
On his way to England Hamlet meets Fortinbras, who is trying to go through Denmark to fight the Polish people. Hamlet wishes to follow Fortinbras' example and have "bloody thoughts" in order to get his revenge.
Polonius' death has affected Ophelia so much to the point where she has gone crazy. The Queen is feeling extremely guilty. The King is under a lot of pressure because of the murder of Polonius, Ophelia going crazy, sending Hamlet away, and now Laertes threatening to take his crown away.
Laertes is back in Denmark looking for answers to the rumors about his father's death. The people want Laertes as King. Laertes is furious and willing to do anything to avenge his father's death.
Ophelia has drowned in a stream. The King has been informed that Hamlet is back in Denmark. Claudius and Laertes plan a fencing match where Laertes can kill Hamlet and make it look like an "accident".
