Joshua... he got hit by a car. He's in the hospital right now
We have to go to the hospital right now!
Today, almost became one of my nightmares. It's graduation day at school. I really never expected this, because ever since I was a kid, I always hated speaking in front of a large crowd. But, here I am, about to deliver a speech, which I hope will be life-changing, not just for me, but other people too. As I walked up the stage, I reminded myself not to be too nervous. My speech was about our family, our story, of never giving up, even in times of tragedy.
I'm sorry I have to tell you this, but, we might have to do another operation on him.
No... no! That's not happening!
It was just one beautiful day, everything was going good. I said bye to my father as usual as he goes to work with his bestfriend on a summer day. He was a salesman. They went straight to work, as normal. But, they never had the chance to go back home. On their way home, my dad, Joshua, and his friend, Daniel, were just walking peacefully on the sidewalks, then suddenly, out of nowhere, came a speeding van, they didn't have time to move. BOOM! Crashed the car, both of them were bleeding.
You can do it!
I could walk again!
A concerned driver brought htem to the hospital, straight to the emergancy rooms. That's the time we got a call, from one of my father's close friends, Warren. He told us what happened and we were shocked. We went straight to the hospital. I saw my dad lying down, he was looking better, he was a little conscious and traumatized by what just happened.
Stay positive, remember!
We can't pay these bills!
They're too big!
After a few months, my father was looking better, but his left leg was getting worse, his left leg was mostly hit during the accident, so it looks horrible. We were still in the hospital. Since my dad has daily checkups, the doctor always comes and tells us updates. This time, it was different, the doctor told us that they may have to cut his left leg off, because most of the leg's veins were broken.
Are you serious? Again!?
But we wouldn't let that just happen, so we told the doctor to do the X-ray again, so he did. The doctor noticed that there were still big veins left, so, they didn't have to do it. Our whole family was rejoicing after hearing the news. Then, again, after a few months, my dad was better and so was his left leg, he could walk again!
When I saw him walk, I thought everything was finally over, but it wasn't. It was just starting. I saw the bills, they were enormous.
